Literary Events

Authors and poets have had a special affinity with Bewdley Festival audiences since the first events in 1988.

One of the standout appearances in 1988 was by Laurie Lee; you can read recollections of his visit to Bewdley by clicking here: Laurie Lee in Bewdley.

He was not the only literary figure to feature that year; Roger McGough and Brain Patten made a joint appearance and there was an evening built around the works of A E Housman.

Many more great writers have appeared since, both in the main Bewdley Festival or at Bewdley Book Week events. These include the past three Poets Laureate, Andrew Motion, Carol Ann Duffy and Simon Armitage.
