An afternoon of poetry, prose, song, conversation and participation.
Former Worcestershire Poet Laureate Heather Wastie lives near Kidderminster where she was Writer in Residence at the Museum of Carpet in 2013. She is well known for her interpretations of oral history, including ‘Weaving Yarns’ (Black Pear Press) - poetry and songs about the carpet industry - and ‘Idle Women of the Wartime Waterways’ (Alarum Theatre) which she has toured extensively across the UK by canal. Amongst her many commissions, in 2017 she wrote and performed poems for the popular Nationwide Building Society ad campaign.
Heather has published seven poetry collections, most recently ‘The Muck and Shovel Brigade’ (The Ring Project /Canal & River Trust) and ‘Don’t Oil The Hinges’ (Black Pear Press). For more, see www.WastiesSpace.co.uk
Bewdley Bards will have their new 2019 booklet called 'Connections' on sale at the vent and Heather will be happy to sign copies of her work.
