American Epic Weekend
The weekend will include the screening of the award-winning trilogy of documentary films narrated by Robert Redford about the first "field" recordings of music across the U.S.A. and their cultural, social and technological impact on the world. Described by the Hollywood Reporter as ‘a feast of musical and educational riches,’ and the Observer declaring it ‘one of the most interesting music programmes ever broadcast and a gorgeous history lesson’.
Filmmaker Allison McGourty will be in attendance, leading a linked educational programme with local schools and taking part in a discussion about the trilogy.
The curated weekend will present audiences with an exclusive line-up of events including:
Q&A session with the producer of the American Epic series, Allison McGourty,
Unique talks by world famous music producers Andrew Scheps (Three time Grammy winner including for Adele’s ‘21’ Album) and mastering specialist Simon Heyworth (famous for his work on Mike Oldfields ground-breaking Tubular Bells album)
Exhibitions of rare photographs from the films musicians and of vintage music technology equipment courtesy of the renowned local company Klark Teknik who will be delivering a short history of the comany's early days.
Leading Nashville-based singer songwriter Rod Picott will close the celebrations when he plays live at our ‘Music in the Hall’ session on Saturday, 5th October at 9:15pm.
