Bewdley Festival Crime Fiction Day
The Bewdley Festival Literary Events team welcomes two of the country’s best known and admired crime writers to St. George’s Hall, Bewdley.
The day starts at 4:00 pm with a unique opportunity for aspiring writers who can participate in a crime writing workshop led by Vaseem. This workshop has limited spaces so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Later in the day from 7:00 pm we present "An evening with Vaseem Khan and Mark Billingham" two of the Top Ten Times Best Selling writers of crime fiction.
Vaseem Khan is the author of the Baby Ganesh Detective Agency novels, featuring Inspector Chopra and his sidekick baby elephant Ganasha, smashed the Times best seller list and introduced the world to the ‘heart of modern India’.
Our second featured writer is the amazing Mark Billingham who became the first crime writer to win the prestigious Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award twice when his novel Death Message won in 2009.
His novels featuring the formidable Inspector Tom Thorne have been televised and he has enjoyed being in the Times Top Ten bestseller list on a number of occasions. In December 2009 his novel Sleepyhead was listed as one of the 100 novels that shaped the decade and was chosen as one of the titles for World Book Night in 2011.
Mark will give a presentation that covers the highlights of his career so far and offers insights into character creation and crime fiction as his favoured genre.
Vaseem and Mark will be making separate presentations at 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm respectively, with a break between them.
